Funding Opportunities

APC Funding

The companies which are part of the Australian Packaging Covenant will provide up $15 million with matching funds from the State Governments over the next 5 years to fund projects which focus on increasing the recycling of packaging waste. The APC focuses on improved packaging design, away from home recycling, litter reduction and increased engagement across the supply chain through product stewardship.

Better Bins Program

On Tuesday, 14 January 2014, the Minister for Environment; Heritage Hon. Albert Jacob launched the Better Bins Program. This Program was developed by the Waste Authority, and is designed to assist Local Governments with implementing better practice kerbside collection systems as outlined in the Better Bins: Kerbside Collection Guidelines. Funding of up to $7.5million is available.

CGS

The Community Grants Scheme is operated by the Waste Authority, and is designed to support small scale community based projects that make an active contribution to the waste management and recycling in Western Australia. There are two rounds of grant funding available annually under the CGS.

CLGF

The Country Local Government Fund (CLGF) supports Local Governments in the nine regions defined in the Regional Development Commissions Act 1993. This Fund is designed to help Local Governments in regional WA to build and maintain their infrastructure.

Grants Directory (WA)

The Department of Local Government has developed an online grants directory to help communities and Local Governments in regional and metropolitan Western Australia in locating sources of financial assistance for their projects and initiatives.

Grant Finder (Federal)

Grants and other funding programs are available for businesses from the Australian, state and territory governments. Local Governments can use Grant Finder to search through a wide variety of grants in many categories, including developing business, innovation and education.

RFP

The Regional Funding Program (RFP) supports regional groups of Local Governments across WA to implement Strategic Waste Management Plan priorities.

SWIS

The Strategic Waste Initiatives Scheme (SWIS) is a scheme operated by the Waste Authority. It provides funding and other assistance to business and industry, Local Government, community groups and individuals for projects tackling priority waste issues. In addition to grants the Scheme is aimed at encouraging strategic waste initiatives through non-funding support and assistance.

WATEP

The WA Transitional E-waste Program (WATEP) is operated by the Waste Authority and is designed to assist with the transition to the National TV and Computer Recycling Scheme. The program aims to support existing e-waste collection and recycling activities in Western Australia. The National TV and Computer Recycling Scheme began to roll out across Australia during 2013.
