Auditing Continuity / Data Compilation (AC/DC) Scheme

With the cessation of the Resource Recovery Rebate Scheme (RRRS) the need to ensure data collection continued, was identified.  The Auditing Continuity / Data Compilation (AC/DC) Scheme was an interim measure to ensure data continuity was not lost while another mechanism for data collection was put in place.

Period two of the AC/DC Scheme (1 January 2007 to 30 June 2007) was the last period of the Scheme.

How did it work?

The AC/DC Scheme captured similar data to the RRRS and covered two six month periods. The initial application form covered the period from 1 July 2006 to 31 December 2006 and the later covered 1 January 2007 to 30 June 2007. The funding structure for the AC/DC Scheme differs from the RRRS as it is based on the range of services provided. For example a Local Government only providing a kerbside recycling service will receive less than a Local Government providing kerbside, vergeside and drop off services.

The AC/DC Scheme has different requirements for documentation provision. Unlike with the RRRS, supporting documentation did not need to be provided when the application form was submitted.  The documentation did, however, need to be in the possession of the Council as it may be requested.

Applications for the second and last six month period of the Scheme (1 January 2007 to 30 June 2007) closed Tuesday 31 July 2007.

Rural Recycling Cost Offset Scheme (RRCOS)

The Rural Recycling Cost Offset Scheme (RRCOS) will deliver funds to help offset the costs of recycling for non-metropolitan Local Governments. In order to encourage greater participation in recycling, a minimum payment of $1000 is available for all rural Local Governments that report on their recycling activities through the AC/DC Scheme. Payments to Local Governments are based on a formula that includes the tonnages of material recycled, as reported through the AC/DC Scheme. Therefore, to be eligible for RRCOS funds you must have submitted an application to the AC/DC Scheme.
