Household Hazardous Waste Program
The Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Program provides Local Governments with funding to assist with the collection, storage and disposal of HHW. The aim of the Program is to achieve the safe storage and disposal of HHW, and to obtain reliable data on the quantities and types of HHW collected in Western Australia. The Household Hazardous Waste Program is funded through the Landfill Levy.
What is Household Hazardous Waste?
Household Hazardous Waste is household products that are no longer needed or have reached their end-of-life, which contain chemicals or substances that can be harmful to you, your children and/or pets, or the environment. This may include a broad range of products that are flammable, toxic, explosive or corrosive.
Household Hazardous Waste Temporary Collection Days
Temporary Collection Days are held to enable the public to drop off and safely dispose of any unwanted household hazardous waste. All materials collected are recycled or disposed of safely. ALL ARE WELCOME at the Temporary Collection Days, not just residents of the host Local Government.
What Wastes Will Be Accepted on Temporary Collection Days?

- Waste Oil
- Pharmaceuticals and sharps
- Asbestos
- Waste from commercial or industrial sources
