Funding for Used Motor Oil Recycling and WALGA Preferred Supplier
USED OIL COLLECTION REBATE SCHEME PERIOD 5
Period 5 commenced 1 January 2011 and will end 30 June 2011. Application forms will be sent out to Local Governments shortly.
NB: tracking fees are non-refundable and Metropolitan local governments will only need to complete Sections 1 & 4 of the claim form.
In order for Non-Metropolitan local governments to receive funding, the following will need to be provided:
- A completed Application Form;
- Copies of used oil collection invoices from Wren Oil; and
- Copies of paid oil collection receipts for the claim period.

Funding for Used Oil Collection & Recycling
The Waste Authority has allocated funding to assist Local Governments with used motor oil recycling. The funding Program originally finished on 23 April 2011, but is now extended to cover collections of used motor oil until the end of June 2011. Funding is allocated in six monthly periods (Jan – June 2009, Jul – Dec 2009, Jan – June 2010, July - Dec 2010 and Jan - June 2011). Funding will vary based upon a geographical location weighting, the amount of used oil collected and the number of Local Governments who apply. In order to access funding, Local Governments will need to:
- Use the WALGA appointed Preferred Supplier;
- Keep documentation relating to the amount and cost of used oil collected; and
- Estimate the source of used oil (public, commercial or Local Government)

WALGA Preferred Supplier Contract
A tender was called for a suitably experienced and qualified organisations to provide for the Collection and Recycling of Used Motor Oil from metropolitan and non-metropolitan Local Governments throughout Western Australia. This tender was awarded to Wren Oil.
Local Governments interested in using the Preferred Supplier arrangement should contact Wren Oil on 9725 4002.

Annual price increases have been included as part of the Preferred Supplier contract:
- The price for collection (including the tracking fee) will increase by 5% (on the 2009/10) for the remainder of the 2010/11 financial year;
- For the 2011/11 financial year the price will increase by 10% (on the 2009/10) price; and
- Funding continues to be provided to Local Government (through the Rebate Scheme) in the non-metropolitan area to assist with the cost of used oil recycling.
