Container Deposit Scheme

The State Government is committed to implementing a Western Australian Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) by early 2020. The State Government has established the CDS Advisory Group and specific Working Groups to assist in the development of the Scheme. To facilitate Local Government input into the Scheme, WALGA has established a Container Deposit Scheme Policy Forum. The membership of the Policy Forum includes Local Government Officers and Elected Members from across the State.

As Local Government has been an ongoing advocate for a Container Deposit Scheme, WALGA is committed to ensuring Local Government is fully informed regarding the Scheme and has opportunities to participate.

Some of WALGA’s activities in this area include:

Local Government Resources

Sharing the Benefits of the CDS Discussion Paper (March 2019)

CDS Information for Local Government (March 2019)
