Regional Waste Summit Opportunity

WALGA is seeking Expressions of Interest from non-metropolitan Local Governments interested in showcasing local, innovative approaches to waste management at a regional Waste Summit in May 2020 or May 2021. This type of event has been successfully delivered in Kalgoorlie (2018) and Broome (2019), with approximately 50-60 attendees participating at each event.  The Summit itself is a 1 day event, with a half to full day tour of local facilities potentially included.

A Waste Summit provides a useful platform to build relationships and share knowledge with key stakeholders - to improve service delivery, social opportunities and environmental outcomes for the local community. By hosting a Waste Summit, the successful Local Governments have an opportunity to:

  • Showcase local, innovative approaches to waste management
  • Discuss local challenges and identify appropriate solutions
  • Increase awareness of waste management and Local Government services.

In delivering the Waste Summit, WALGA is keen to work with Local Governments to ensure the program highlights local initiatives and best practice approaches to waste management. Where appropriate, WALGA will work with local suppliers to deliver the Waste Summit.
