About Us

Background

WasteNet is managed by the Municipal Waste Advisory Council, a standing committee of the Western Australian Local Government Association with delegated authority to represent the Association in all matters relating to solid waste management. 

The website was established in 2001 as a source of information for people interested in waste issues and waste information.  With the relaunching of the site in July 2005, this function has been retained and others have been added. 

New Local Government Focus

WasteNet continues to present factual information about a wide range of waste subjects.  However, the focus of the website has shifted and now concentrates upon reporting issues of primary relevance to Local Government and representing Local Government perspectives.  For example:

  • Head to the Issues section and you'll find coverage of current issues for Local Government. 
  • Look in the Policy section and you'll see policy statements and submissions developed by the Muncipal Waste Advisory Council on behalf of Local Government.
